Lajeadense sit a point clear at the top of Group One after being held at home by Veranópolis on Thursday evening, above São José who also drew 0-0 against unbeaten Group Two leaders, Caxias in the Passo D’areia, Port Alegre.
Grêmio’s unconvincing start under to life with Caio Júnior continued after scraping to a 2-1 win against Ypiranga in Erechim. Rodrigo Jesus gave the hosts a 23rd minute lead before Marcelo Moreno drew Grêmio level in the second-half; Douglas Grolli sparred the Tricolor of their blushes by snatching the three points for his side three minutes into injury time.
Juventude ended a run of two consecutive defeats against Avenida, as Rafael Pereira’s strike proved decisive for Ju. Avenida, bottom of Group Two, are now without a win since beating Internacional in their first game of the campaign.
