Welsh League wrap and lower-league results: Ford hat-trick denies AFC Porth win

MACWHIRTER WELSH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Unbeaten AFC Porth were denied a win for only the second time this season, after being forced to settle for a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Monmouth Town at the Chippenham Sports Ground. Geraint Williams, Jarred Wright and Steve Edwards’ deflected shot had fired the league leader’s into a commanding three-goal lead. But the Kingfisher’s had other ideas, with Elliot Ford the man of the moment, firing home a second-half hat-trick. Cambrian & Clydach and Haverfordwest County both fell out of the top-three. Goals from Darren Griffiths and Alex Chyrsanthou fired West End to a 2-1 win at Cambrian whilst County were held 2-2 at the Brewery Field. Taff’s Wells move up into second spot, defeating Cwmbran Celtic 2-1, thanks to strikes from Liam Williams and Tyrone Topper. Goytre United’s poor run of form continued at the expense of Pontardawe Town. Goals either side of half-time from Christian Evans and Jamie Roberts fire Ponty into third as pressure mounts on Goytre chief Derek Brazil. Tata Steel picked up their first win of the season, running out 1-0 winners against a Ton Pentre side, who’ve now slumped to four-straight defeats.
