Welsh League wrap and lower-league results: Barry Town knock AFC Porth off top

A dramatic afternoon in the Welsh League saw Barry Town defeat unbeaten pacesetter’s AFC Porth, 2-0, in their top-of-the-table clash at Dinas Park. Christian Doidge’s neat turn and shout gave Barry the lead early in the second-half, before Anthony Nagi raided down the right-flank and into the box, to fire the Dragons into a two-goal cushion. Taff’s Well move up into second with a comfortable 6-2 win over struggling Goytre United, with Simon Prangley (2) and impressive debutant Jordan Jones amongst the scorers. Liam Hutchinson’s classy free-kick Cambrian & Clydach up into third, after Jarred Harvey’s side edged to a 2-1 win over mid-table Haverfordwest County, who had Chris Holloway dismissed in the first-half. Cwmbran Celtic were handed their fourth straight defeat by Aberdare Town. Tata Steel remain bottom after a 5-2 reverse at home to Monmouth Town.

Rhyl now have a seven-point lead at the top of the Cymru Alliance after Dave Forbes’ injury-time winner saw the Lilywhites snatch a 2-1 win over plucky Penrhyncoch, who had looked set to take a share of the spoils after Josh Shaw had cancelled out Mark Evan’s 15th minute strike. A late goal at the Rock saw Cefn Druids held by Flint Town United . Shaun Beck pegged the Silkmen back level at the death, to leave the two teams separated by goal difference in second and third spot respectively. Porthmadog slumped to the bottom of the table after a fifth-straight league defeat, this time at the hands of Caersws. Ryan Davies struck as Porthmadog fought back from two-goals down but Gareth Parry’s charges would find themselves trailing again shortly after, as Grant Butler restored the Bluebirds’ lead before Graham Evan’s late penalty sealed another miserable afternoon at Y Traeth.
