Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League: Five clubs in the race for 6th

WPL table as of Feb2ndAny one from five teams are in contention to secure the remaining available spot in the top-six of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League going into the final day of the first stage of the season.

Under the new 12-club format, following the split, the top six (Championship Conference) and bottom six (Play-Off Conference) clubs each play again on a home and away basis with points accumulated so far carrying over.

Current sixth spot occupants Connah’s Quay, Carmarthen Town, Bala, Newtown and Aberystwyth are in the mix in what will be a make-or-break afternoon in the Welsh Premier League.

Connah’s Quay and League Cup winners Carmarthen are in the driving seat, level on 27 points with the Nomads enjoying the slightest of advantages with a marginally superior goal difference.

Bala, Newtown and Aberystwyth all trail, equal on 26 points.

At the top end of the table TNS will be looking to maintain their seven-point lead at the sumbit with Aberystwyth the visitors to Park Hall.

All the games kick-off at the later time of 4:15 today, with S4c/Sgorio covering Bala v Connah’s Quay live.
