Port Talbot close in on fourth spot; Lido, Carms and Llanelli all slip at home

PORT TALBOT closed the gap on fourth-placed Prestatyn as Chad Bond’s early goal was enough to seal the Steelmen their first Championship Conference win.

Bond struck just nine minutes in at Bastion Gardens for Port Talbot, fifth, to slash Prestatyn’s hold on fourth spot in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League table to just a single point.

Afan Lido remain rooted to the foot of the table and find themselves ten points adrift after being handed a 2-0 at Bala Town. Lido found themselves on the back-foot almost immediately as Lee Hunt netted inside the opening minute before the visitors finally wrapped things up with Mark Connolly’s effort, three minutes from time.

Carmarthen were finally able to get their Championship Conference campaign underway but an 11th minute header from Les Davies left Mark Aizlewood’s side empty-handed.

Mark Robinson’s first-half strike condemned Llanelli to a 1-0 defeat at Stebonheath.
