Taffs Well were unable to follow up their opening night win after a late penalty miss forced Lee Bridgeman’s side to settle for a point at local rivals Caerau (Ely).
Skipper Liam Williams levelled for the Wellmen after Caerau led through Matt Flynn to send the sides in all square at the break. Caerau’s Craig Attard then rescued his side a share of the spoils, saving Richard Ryan’s injury time penalty.
There was also late drama between AFC Porth and Cambrian & Clydach, who cancelled each other out at Dinas Park. The visitors twice led as Scott Haywood pounced to put Cambrian in front and Huw Bowtell scored from the penalty spot, shortly after Tom McCarthy had fired home a short-lived equaliser. But Cambrian were to be denied all three points when, in the dying stages, Christopher Colvin struck with 93 minutes on the clock.
Aberdare Town staged a second-half comeback to see off Ton Pentre 2-1. Ton had led through Nicky Jones but after Sam Danby had levelled, Aberdare went on to snatch the win through Lewis Hitchock’s 89th minute winner. Monmouth Town also claimed a 2-1 win, overcoming neighbours Goytre.
